Born in Houston, Texas. Studied music at E. E. Worthing High School. Upon completion entered the U.S. Air Force Band, and continued studies in the music departments of Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA., West L.A. College, and San Jose City College. Instructed at the Eubanks Conservatory of Music & The Arts, L.A., CA. for two years. Taught at the Roscoe Music School, L.A., CA. for six years.

Professional Experience

Organized the John Bolivar Band in 1973. Primarily working in the United States; recently in the Middle East, Brazil, Europe, Amsterdam, South America, Tahiti, and Japan.
Performed and toured with many jazz and blues greats including: Aretha Franklin, Chuck Mangione, Ernie Andrews, Lou Rawls, Roger Clinton, Buddy Collett, Dione Warwick, B. B. King, Herb Alpert, Hank Crawford, Joe Turner, Percy Mayfield, Jay Mc Shan, Esther Phillips, Billy Paul, Maxine Weldon, Lalo Shiffrin, Willy Bobo, O.C. Smith, Jimmy Smith, David Whitfield, Chaka Khan, Jo Marie Peyton, Marla Gibbs, Jeffery Osborn Jr., and Little Anthony and the Imperials. Presently touring with the Pacific Concert Group, conducted by Chuck Crews and featuring such artists as Gene Chandler, Peaches 'n Herb, The Manhattans, Blue Magic, Deniece Williams, William DeVaughn, Frankie Erwin & the Shields, Sly Slick & Wicked, The Chilites, The Del Phonics, The Gap Band, Friends of Distinction, The Originals, James & Bobby Purify, Heatwave, Bloodstone, GQ, A Taste of Honey, Bobby Womack, the Billy Mitchell Band, and many others.
